| - Introduce the principles of sedimentary rock properties and their microscopy and also to introduce the main characters of microfossils.
- Outline the basic information of sedimentary rocks and microfossil groups.
- Acquire the students skills of identification of hand specimen of sedimentary rocks and microfossils.
- Study the microfossil groups in terms of taxonomy, ecology, morphology, structure, shells-chemical composition, life history and stratigaphic position.
- Develop the application of sedimentary rocks in the oil industry and envirnmental issues.
