2- Course aims :-
  1. Introduce the principles of mineral optics, nature of light and the polarizing microscope.
  2. Enable the student to prepare microscopic thin sections and to use the polarizing microscope in the identification of the different minerals.
  3. Use the principles of idetification of mineral hand specimens.
  4. Acquire the student skills to the main mineral groups.
