| 2- 2- Course aims :- |
| - Introduce the main principles of the stratigraphy.
- Study the sequences of tansgressive and regressive patterns and sedimentary cycles.
- Enable the students to use different rules of correlation.
- Outline the basic information of the main stratigraphic units (litho., allo., bio.,.pedo., chrono. and geochronologic units).
- Acquire the students some ideas on the geologic time scale
- Study the characteristic fossils for each of he geologic time scale.
- Study the morphology of the microfossils, microstructure and mineralogical components.
- Introduce the principles of Classifying the microfossils, their origin and systematic affinities.
- Use the basic fossil roles in the oil exploration, their stratigraphic importance and their application in the industry.
