|
2- Course aims :- |
| - Study the various techniques and methods used in analysis of the different minerals. These techniques include X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), Inductively Coupled Plasma spectroscopy (ICP), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Cathodoluminscence microscopy (CL), Stable isotopes, Fluid inclusions and staining.
- Use the data resulted from the different techniques and methods in identification and geological significance of the different minerals. This helps in evaluatiof the economic importance of the these minerals and rocks and in solution of some environmental problems.
- Enable the students to select the suitable equipment for each particular problem.
- Use some specific computer programmes in analysing various data resulted from the different techniques and methods.
- Study the mutual relations of individual minerals and/or glassy matter.
