2- أهداف المقرر :-
  1. The aim of this course is to give students a comprehensive picture of the physical phenomena concerning the electromagnetic waves. To describe how spectrum is emmitted or absorbed. The mutual relation between atomic structure & atomic spectrum. How bodies emitte radiation. The concept of Light, Eye, Vision and Color. To explain the physical phenomena of Color and to emphasize how color is persieved by the eye and interpretted by the brain. To correct the misunderstanding of the ideas concerning Color.
  2. Aims at introducing the students to the basics and fundamentals of health physics.

1Electromagnetic Waves,Spectral Regions,Energy &Frequency. Properties of each type of the e.m.r.(gammarays,X-rays,U.V.,Visible,Infrared,Microwaves&Radiowaves).
2Radiation Sources; Waves and particles.Interaction of Radiation with Matter ; reflection, absorption, transmission, scattering& Flurescence
3Interaction of radiation with biological tissues & living cells.Electromagnetic Radiation Hazards and a study case as an example ; Cell Phones.
4Visible Light, color, Eye and Vision.
5Color Theory, Color Addition& Color Subtraction. Monitors and printers.
6Remote Sensing Technologies and methods as a good application of all of the above items & subjects.
7Revision for all the basic concepts studied during the course.
8Air quality, water quality and harmful substaces.
9Physics and Environment. Environment quality standard for human health.
10Physical characteristics of screean and films used in diagnostic radiology. Image intensifier.
11Radiation and life. Review the basics of vectors.
12Review the basics of magnetism to study the electron motion in a magnetic field. Diamagnetic, paramagnetic and ferromagnetic materials according to their susceptibility. The change of susceptibility with the temperatire , Curie & Curie-Wise low.
13Some techniques to measure ESR,NMR,Susceptibility (Gouy method), electron spin direction Stern-Gerlach, Hall coeffiecient. Faraday effect, magnetoresistivity, Kerr effect, Barkihaussen effect and Bitter pattern.
14The role of transition materials ans rare earth materials to have a high magnetization.
