Identify the external morphology of different parts of insect body
Know where to fix insect and how to preserve them
Know how to classify the different orders of class Insecta

1	Comparative morphology: Cephalic Region. (cephalization, head capsule, function and functional adaptation of head capsule, tentorium)
2	Cephalic Appendages: ( structure and types of antennae, structure and types of mouth parts). The neck region (the cervix)
3	The thoracic region. Prothorax, mesothorax, metathorax
4	Thoracic appendages: (structure and types of legs, structure and types of wings, wing venation, wing coupling). The abdominal region and its appendages.
5	Insect Collection and Preservation: Where to look for insects
6	Different collecting equipments: Aerial nets, sweeping nets, beating nets, water nets, aspirator, New jersey light traps, sticky traps, sifters Berles funnel, pitfall traps.
7	Killing Jars (cyanide jars, ethyl acetate jars) Relaxing jars
8	Storage of Insects: Direct pinning, double mounts, mounting on spreading boards, labeling, storage in storing box.
9	Permanent whole mount preparation (maceration, washing, dehydration, dealcoholization, mounting using cover slip)
10	Paraffin processing of tissue blocks: (dissection, fixation, post fixation treatment, initial dehydration, dealcoholization, infiltration, embedding, trimming, attachment, sectioning). Affixing paraffin sections. Processing paraffin sections. (deparaffination, removal of deparaffining solution, hydration, staining, dehydration, dealcoholization, mounting the cover slip
