| - Introduce the basic concepts of thermodynamics and Phase Rule.
- Introduce an idea about the maximum work and the chemical affinity.
- Study the second law of thermodynamics and its applications.
- Learn the importance and the application of thermodynamics to changes of state
- Study the third law of thermodynamics and the thermodynamic properties of solutions.
- Learn about the nature of solid phases and the equilibria attained between solids and liquids.
- Study the classes of two component solid- liquid equilibria and the phase diagrams of three components systems.
