  1. study basic theories of solid state physics such as free electron theory of metals and its application in interpretating some physical phenomena , band theory of solid,tight -binding approximation,orthogonalized plane wave method,pseudopotential method,celluar method and augmented plane wave method. To understand the physical concepts of semiconductors and its devices.
  2. connect fundamental idias about the physical properties of solids.
